Airport Self-Service Technologies, Passenger Self-Concept, and Behavior: An Attributional View

چکیده

Airports are rapidly deploying self-service technologies (SSTs) as a strategy to improve passenger experience by eliminating operational inefficiencies. This places some responsibility on the passengers shape their experience. As service coproducers, passengers’ self-concepts and attributional tendencies deemed instrumental in consumption processes. Accordingly, drawing tenets of attribution theory, this study explores interaction effects self-concept (am I competent at this?) causal inference (who is responsible for SSTs’ performance?) SST performance satisfaction with airport link. Additionally, probable spillover effect electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) examined. The sample consisted 547 departing from an Shanghai, China. Structural equation modeling was utilized test study’s theoretical model. findings indicate that influences SSTs. multiplicative moderating role link demonstrated. Furthermore, illustrated. Given current need contactlessness, proffer critical managerial research insights.

Passenger Self-Service from the Airport’s Perspective

Ranging from booking to check-in to baggage drop to boarding to border crossing to baggage recovery, the trend is irrevocable and subject to significant growth. This growth goes both for increased use of mature self-service options, such as for check-in, but also for new services such as self-service bagdrop. Emerging technologies, like Near Field Communication (NFC), is also likely to play a r...

Effort or Escape: Self-concept Structure Determines Self-regulatory Behavior

The current research examined the interaction between self-complexity, affect, and perceived goal attainability on self-regulation. Participants received failure feedback about their performance and were given the opportunity to reduce this discrepancy through practice. Greater self-complexity was associated with greater practice, regardless of affect and perceived effectiveness of practice. Lo...
